The Tank Museum at Bovington will be holding a special academic seminar ‘Tanks Have Done Marvels’, marking 110 years since the first use of the tank in warfare on 21 November 2026.
This day-long event will bring together historians, researchers, and military scholars to critically examine the debut of the Mark I tank during the Battle of the Somme. Speakers include the Marquess of Salisbury and Hamish de Bretton-Gordon.
Topics to be discussed range from the psychological effect of the tank to the tank actions in Gaza in 1917, as well as several papers examining the first tank crews.
And there will be a chance to get inside Mark IV in the Tank Men exhibition!
