Mars & Clio Editorial Policy
- Mars & Clio is the bulletin of the British Commission for Military History. It records the business of the Commission by publishing conference proceedings, reports on battlefield tours, and promotes the practice of military history by publishing articles, reflections, and book reviews.
- Mars & Clio is run by an editorial board consisting of the editor-in-chief, the commissioning editor, the production editor and the reviews editor.
- Mars & Clio accepts contributions from members and non-members and commissions articles and reviews.
- Mars & Clio is a non-peer reviewed journal, although contributions should when appropriate follow scholarly conventions.
- Mars & Clio encourages scholarly debate relating to military history. Contributions should be respectful to individuals and groups and written in language appropriate for a scholarly publication.
- The editorial board reserves the right to decline to publish articles that do not promote the objectives of the Commission or its journal or do not meet the journal’s editorial guidelines, or to request revisions to submitted pieces before publication.
- The production editor may edit submissions for style, clarity and length without reference to the author. Substantive changes to content or style will be agreed with the author before publication.
- Contributions by authors represent their own views and should not be taken to represent those of the Commission or any other body or institution.
- The authors of articles in Mars & Clio retain the copyright of the material. No part of any article may be reproduced or distributed in any form other than for private use without the express permission of the author. Permission may be sought via the editor.
