On the 20th January 2023 the BCMH Early Career Researchers network was launched. The network was set up to create a community of post graduate military historians to support them and bring them into the BCMH fold. This includes those currently studying for a PhD, having just finished a PhD, or thinking about doing one. The network chat has an active membership of 39 individuals from across the country working on several different facets of Military history. The network twitter has 162 followers and can be found at https://twitter.com/BCMH_ECR_ Any support is gratefully received.
The network was initially started by Dr Zack White pre pandemic, however, the growth of which was prevented and many of the PhD students at the time are now qualified.
The network is now headed up by Chloe Storer, the student network co-ordinator, supported by Hugh Davie acting as the PGR ‘return to study’ contact. Dr Andy Wheale is the BCMH contact overseeing everything.
The first network event will be a Three Minute Military Thesis (TMMT) competition held at King’s College London on 28th March 2023. This is a competition by which members will present their thesis in just three minutes in front of judges and a supportive audience. The deadline for applications is 24th February 2023. It will be an in-person event (with hybrid options), free of charge.
To enter: e-mail your name and a 50 word summary of your research to email@example.com by 5pm on Friday 24th February 2023 - please also state whether your application is in person or hybrid.
