It is with great regret that we announce the death of former President of the BCMH, Brian Bond.
His contribution to the field of military history in the UK and particularly First World War military history was immense. He was a highly influential member of staff at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London for most of his career and he made a significant contribution to the development of war studies as an academic subject.
He served as President of the BCMH for twenty years (1986 – 2006), helping to establish it as the prestigious organisation that we know today.

We will have further tributes to Professor Bond in Mars & Clio in due course.
We will send out details of his funeral when they become available.
