The British Commission for Military History is appalled by the unprovoked and unlawful invasion of Ukraine in 2022 by forces of the Russian Federation. The BCMH notes that the Russian government has justified this invasion on the basis of a series of falsifications of the historical record concerning both Ukraine and the Russian Federation. The BCMH wishes to express its solidarity with the Ukrainian people and deplores the misuse of history that the Russian government has indulged in to justify its unlawful actions in Ukraine.
