Emergency Motion proposed by Tim Gale
The British Commission for Military History is appalled by the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine by forces of the Russian Federation. The BCMH notes that the Russian Commission for Military History is a part of the Russian General Staff historical section. The BCMH therefore calls on the ICMH as a matter of urgency to take appropriate action against the Russian Commission for Military History, up to and including suspension or expulsion from the ICMH, as an expression of solidarity with the Ukrainian people and as an indication of the ICMH’s opposition to the unlawful Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Proposed: Tim Gale
Seconded: Robin Brodhurst
The Motion was carried nem con, with 1 abstention.
The President explained that he would forward our motion to the ICMH. He pointed out that things may well look very different by September at the ICMH Congress when national commissions will be in a position to discuss the war in the Ukraine.
