New Researchers

In recent years, the BCMH has taken a number of specific measures to encourage scholars in the early stages of their careers. It hosts an annual New Research in Military History Conference - the Conference at St John's College Cambridge in November 2017 was the eighth - and largest - such event with 140 attendees and 80 speakers over two days. These have proven to be very popular amongst those wishing to explore with others topics that are the subject of their current studies. At an international level the BCMH supports applications from postgraduate students wishing to speak at the International Congress of Military History held annually.

The BCMH is always keen to hear from scholars and others seeking support to host conferences or similar events. The Commission welcomes approaches from members, whether scholars or otherwise, for financial backing and administrative support who wish to host similar events.

They should contact the Secretary General in the first instance at secgen@bcmh.org.uk.
