Dear ICMH Leaders, Colleagues, Friends, and Military History Professionals, Please find attached the quarterly update, dated 1 October 2021, of the ICMH Forthcoming Military History Conference listing.
The purpose of this listing is to provide you with information on future international conferences for your consideration of attendance, to help share military history techniques, methodologies, and best practices. Please also consider using this list to possibly deconflict your planned conferences with others being held at the same time (for example, there were three separate worthwhile conferences held in Europe this past week, with attendees having to be selective as to which conference they attended -- and which conferences they could not attend -- thus reducing the attendance at and effectiveness of some of these conferences).
Please note we do not have confirmation on the venue for the XLVII Congress of the International Commission of Military History, to be conducted 26 August-2 September 2022. Alternative courses of action are being pursued vigorously by the ICMH Executive Board, and we will inform you at the earliest opportunity of the site of next year's congress when it is confirmed. The coronavirus pandemic has caused the cancellation of numerous events and activities, including military history conferences. Successful vaccination programs, however, seem to be easing travel and other restrictions across Europe. Those conferences known to have been cancelled or rearranged have been highlighted in “blue.” Please check with the respective conference organizers to ensure any conference you may be interested in attending is still going to be held.
If you are aware of any forthcoming military history conferences not included in this listing -- and there seem to be many conferences being held -- please send me the relevant conference details, and I will include that conference in the next quarterly update. Thank you.
Thank you very much. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Harold E. Raugh, Jr., Ph.D.
